Weekday 10 miler: check!

30 Sep

10 miles is done and done. At 5pm yesterday my dad and I laced up and out we went for about 2 hours of running. I don’t know what it was but the run felt easy and I felt great the entire time. I love when that happens!

And we cut 5 minutes off of our time from Saturday so I’ll take that as a major bonus!

I hope the half feels as easy and comfortable as yesterday did.

To be honest, I’m pretty shocked it felt that easy. After a full day of work I thought my legs would be dragging but surprisingly they weren’t. I ran without my Garmin too – only with my watch. That seemed to help me not analyze my pace constantly and prevented me from feeling like I was going “too slow” like I always do. Maybe I’m onto something here…

When I came home I was greeted with a little package – my compression sleeves came! I got a pair of these.

After my shower I put them on and wore them all night while I slept (it’s okay to wear them that long right?)

Here’s an awkward picture of what they look like:

When I took them off this morning my legs felt like brand new. Well still tired, but they didn’t ache and hurt like they normally do for anything over 9 miles.

I’m off to work for a few hours before running some errands and heading out for the weekend – I’ve got some fun stuff planned this weekend. So I’ll check in on Monday probably.

Have a great weekend!

Thankful Thursday: yay compression!

29 Sep

I’m thankful that the confusion with my Zensha Compression sleeves got worked out (it was an error with Amazon.com apparently) and I ordered the right thing and they are being shipped to me! Estimated delivery sometime between today and Monday. YAY compression!

I’m thankful for leftovers. My lunch is completely random and the parts probably don’t fit together well but there’s something about leftovers that make me feel all warm and cozy and home-y inside.

stuffed pepper, celery + PB, crockpot potato soup, eggsalad over lettuce

I’m thankful that I baked sugar cookie balls last night! I can’t wait to eat a few after my warm, cozy, home-y lunch.

yummo

I’m thankful that Reebok has to pay $25 million for false advertising with their EasyTone products. Yes, maybe I’m happy for their companies misfortune but it annoys the crap out of me when companies market something and mislead consumers that way. Their commercials are horrible (when did it become okay to zoom in on a models butt?) and I would hope many people thought they were ridiculous from the start, but I really feel that companies need to take responsibility for things like this. I’m just waiting for the injury claims to start rolling in…

I’m thankful for my brita water bottle. I’m on my third bottle-ful already and it seems to be filtering out the grossness of the water fountain water.

the one on the left - old picture, sorry

I’m thankful that some “womanly woes” I was experiencing last night seem to be subsiding so I should feel fine to run 10 miles after work today…I just hope the weather holds out.

What are you thankful for today?

Second rest day

28 Sep

Wednesday, half way through the week. woo!

Last nights dinner was one of my favs – Pittsburgh Sandwiches!

yum yum yum yum yum.

I got bored after dinner and decided at 8pm to make Sugar Cookie balls – a double batch. Since I realized it was getting late and I was getting tired I just made the dough and stuck it in the fridge. I’ll roll and bake em tonight. Can’t wait :)

Lunch today is more of the usual, egg white egg salad, CSA fruit, celery with PB.

Ignore the fact that they’re all in random containers – since I went out to eat for lunch yesterday I left the sandwich in the fridge over night since I ate the celery and PB from yesterdays lunch as a snack yesterday.

I also might have eaten the peanut butter with a spoon when  I didn’t proportion the celery to peanut butter correctly.Had to properly deal with the problem of having too much PB :)

I took yesterday off from running and I’m taking today off too. To review, I did a 10 miler Saturday, and ran for 20 minutes Monday. I’m going to be pretty busy this weekend, so busy that I won’t be able to squeeze in another 10 miler. Unfortunately this is the last week that would work for a long run before I taper for the half. So, I’m going to do a 10 miler with my dad tomorrow after work (thus the rest days today and yesterday). I have no idea how running that far and long will go after a day at work but we will see. It’s the only opportunity I’ve got so hopefully it’ll work out.

So tonight, the plans are relax with sugar cookie balls, some tv watching, and probably nothing else exciting enough to mention here.

PS – I finally posted the link to the stuffed pepper recipe from yesterday in case you’re interested.
