CORE Foods Defender Meal Review

4 Apr

I recently had the opportunity to try out CORE Foods defender meals as part of Sweat Pink.

They mailed me a box of one of each flavor of the defender meals. corefoods3

Raw Walnut Banana, Raw Cashew Cacao and Raw Almond Raisin.

Simply put, CORE Meals are comparable to a full bowl of oatmeal. It is recommended to eat one bar and drink a full glass of water. They are raw, 100% organic and gluten free.

The first thing I noticed was how my contact at CORE Foods recommended we put them in the fridge right away. I was excited because that meant these were full of healthy, fresh ingredients that actually could go bad! CORE Meals last 6 months frozen, 1 month refrigerated, and 1 week on the go. I can definitely get behind a convenience food that has a short shelf life!

The first one I tried out was the Walnut Banana.

I’m not sure what I was expecting but I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious these bars were! They have the texture of oatmeal and have just the right amount of sweetness to them. I ate the bar super slowly with a glass of water, and honestly I had to eat it slowly. They are pretty dense and it filled me up pretty quickly!

Check out this ingredients list too – SIX ingredients. And they’re all pronounceable! corefoods2

The Banana Walnut was by far my favorite flavor, but the hubby split the Walnut Raisin with me and loved it. I also thought the Cashew Cacao one tasted a little bit like cookie dough. 🙂

I was really impressed that these bars kept me full from breakfast (around 8:15am) all the way until lunch at noon. Usually I’m looking for a snack around 10:30 and it didn’t happen at all! I think they would be a great meal replacement bar for me when I’m in a rush to get out the door or have a busy day at work.

The hubby and I enjoyed these bars so much we are planning to place an order on CORE Foods website for some more soon. I’m thinking about trying the Warrior Meals (which are High Protein) this time around.

Overall I think these bars are great when you’re in a rush and need to eat something healthy and filling. I highly recommend them!!!

I am a big fan of the Core bars. The raw cacao one is my favorite – it tastes decadent to me. 🙂
