Weekly Workout Recap: 3/7 – 3/21

Hello there! Long time no see!  Last we talked I was dealing with a bit of foot pain.  My foot ended up not feeling better until Thursday morning but we left for vacation in Florida on Thursday evening so I opted to give myself an extra 2 complete rest days (since Friday was all travel) to really make sure I was good to go. I wanted to be able to run my planned 5k and I love love love running in the early mornings in Florida!  Everything worked out as I hoped which was a relief!

On Saturday morning I got in an easy short run to basically see how my foot felt with running impact. It was a little stiff at the start but then I felt fine! I was so happy.

On Sunday I ran a local 5k. I knew that a sub 30 was probably not in the cards because I had been off my feet for a while, and I didn’t want to press my luck. I went out and ran my first mile hard, and then backed off and enjoyed myself. I finished in 33:00 which I was totally fine with, and I was even more thrilled when I found out I finished 3rd in my age group! What?! It was a small race but when all was said and done there was 8-10 of us in the female 31-35 group, so I was really proud of myself!

I spent the rest of the week in Florida running my heart out in the mornings and it was great. As much as I hated taking a week off (during a week when I really could have used it frankly), it was SO worth it to have a good week of runs in Florida.

  1. Weekly Workout Recap: 3/21 – 3/27 | Diary of a slow runner - March 28, 2016

[…] After being injured for a week and then in Florida for a week  I finally got back to the gym last week. I got in mostly everything but opted to skip CXWORX on Wednesday afternoon because I was SORE from GRIT Strength and BodyPump since I hadn’t gone in two weeks. My runs were great – there’s a group of runners from the gym who are around my pace who are getting into regular runs outside now that the weather is a little bit more tolerable.  I had a great time running with company this week and look forward to doing it in the future. It’s a great way to stay accountable! […]
