Happy New Year! I hope your new years eve was fun and awesome and full of whatever makes you happy. 🙂
I spent the evening running a race. Every year there is a “Resolution Run” (5k) in my town on new years eve. I think this is the fourth year I have run it, and I enjoy it every time. My finishing time wasn’t great due to congestion at the beginning and towards the end. The race is attracting more and more people every year though, which is great. I ran it as a training run, though I’m not going to lie, I did push myself a bit at the end because I had a lot of steam left due to the crowded conditions. It felt good to sprint to the finish and I crossed feeling pretty out of breath. It felt good in a weird sort of way. 🙂
After that, I drove home and the hubby had ordered Thai food that got delivered just as I was walking in the door. Green curry with tofu and veggies is my favorite! We spent the rest of the evening eating Thai and watching The Walking Dead on Netflix. We recently gave into the hype and have made it our duty to get all caught up before the next “live” episode comes out.
We’ve spent today ignoring the fact that we both have to return to work and “normal life” tomorrow (yuck), and cleaning up the house, throwing in a few loads of laundry, etc. I started to de-Christmasize our house. I know it will be easier to do it now than after we’re back at work. The only thing left is the tree and its ornaments and the lights on the outside of the house. I think we’ll probably leave those up for another week or so though. No need to rush it. 🙂
I did squeeze in another 3 mile run to start off 2013. Took it real easy, with a few walk breaks. It was chilly out. I can’t wait for the warmer spring weather. Running in the cold is starting to get annoying. haha.
I’m off to eat some Christmas cookies, read my book, and relax on the couch with the hubby. Hope you have a great Sunday!
I hope your holidays are filled with fun, and time with the ones that you love.
And cookies too 🙂
The comments on Wednesday’s post were good ones, a few even offered up a couple of products that may be helpful. It’s always good to be reminded to be safe when you’re out running by yourself. It’s unfortunate it had to happen due to a real life situation though. The last update I’ve heard is that they still haven’t caught the attacker, but the woman was released from the hospital, can talk and is doing okay. Thank goodness.
Now to something a little more light-hearted…. the weekend! I’m pretty psyched for the weekend because tomorrow I’m baking cookies all day with my mom and Sunday I’m hoping to get in a run (yay!!!). It should be a fun weekend. It’s also our last weekend before Christmas festivities kick off (starting with the hubby’s family coming to visit next weekend) so it’ll be a good opportunity to take a deep, relaxing breath before it all starts. 🙂
My foot is feeling much better, I’m walking with no issues now, and on Sunday I’m planning to go out and run and see how far I get. There’s 8 on my training plan but I don’t want to push it if I’m not feeling it. It’s much more important for me to get in my last longer run in 2 weeks than this shorter run. I’m really looking forward to getting back to it next week, as long as everything goes well. I’ve missed sweating!!!
Have a good weekend folks!
I hope your day yesterday was great and filled with fun and family, if that is what you had planned.
We had a good, lazy, relaxing Christmas over here.
We spent the day at my parents house with some family that came into town. I got a couple of fun fitness related gifts – a head lamp for running at night, a running vest (for when it warms up a little) and Zumba for the wii! I’m so excited to use my new gear. 🙂
Today we got to sleep in again, and spent the morning/early afternoon bumming around. I did get out for a 30 minute run to start my plan for speed though. I also ran a few errands and we ordered a few odds and ends online that we’ve been needing but wanted to wait for Christmas gift cards to do so – more sports bras for me (yay! review of them coming soon) and a rice cooker for both of us (super excited about this).
The hubbys sister is coming into town tonight to spend a few days. It’s going to be another couple of days filled with food, movies, wine and more food. I’m hoping to take her with me to hot yoga tomorrow though, so at least there will be some sweating going on. 🙂
I’m not sure how much I’ll be posting the next few days, but I will be around since I’m off of work until the 3rd, so if I can squeeze in time for a check in I certainly will.
Enjoy your Monday!
The Christmas festivities over here have started! I’m excited for a day filled with family, food, wine and fun tomorrow. I hope that you and yours have a great day tomorrow. I plan to check in next sometime Monday.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!!
