A Warmer Monday

11 Feb

Happy Monday guys!

I’m actually having a pretty good day today. Mostly because it is finally sunny out, and according to my car, the temperature is in the 40s!

Yay for some warmer weather here in central PA!!

Anyhow, our weekend was pretty relaxed. It was the hubby’s birthday so we went out for dinner a few times, enjoyed some birthday cake and watched Silver Lining Playbook. My husbands family is from around Philly, and he grew up around there, and they are also 100% Italian so it was interesting to see some of the cultural similarities between his family and the families in the movie.

I also did a little shopping and ran some errands I’ve been putting off. I went to TJ Maxx, and man that place was a gold mine for fitness related stuff! I picked up some 5 lb weights (for doing the 30 Day Shred) and a cute headband, and a bright orange running cap for the hubby (he runs on the trails during hunting season so he needs to wear that blaze orange pretty frequently). I also noticed they had fuel belts for pretty inexpensive as well as gloves for lifting weights, kettleballs, etc. I’ve always had luck with them when looking for work out clothes, but I had no idea they were also so awesome in the work out accessories! 🙂

I got in six easy miles on Saturday on the treadmill. It took me 1:21:xx which I’m decently happy with since I took it real easy. I took a full on rest day yesterday. But it was hard. Sometimes I just get on such a roll that I’d rather work out in all my free time. I know rest days are important though so I took one.

This morning I had 4 miles on my schedule with a few 1/2 mile intervals.
I did the speedy 1/2 miles in 5:45 and 5:46. Overall the 4 miles took me 53:40 which I’m pretty happy with. The treadmill makes it pretty easy to stay on pace so I really hope the weather continues to clear up so that I can run outside this weekend!

2 Jun

Good Afternoon! It’s Thursday which means Friday is right around the corner!

This morning I hit the snooze when my alarm went off at 5:30 to do abs n arms. whoops. So after work I’ll be heading to yoga for an hour followed by some quick abs n arms when I get home.
The food in the office has been crazy this morning – we do birthdays big! I had some chopped strawberries & kiwi, some of my coworkers amazing homemade salsa + chips, and I’ll admit to having a donut. They get me every time!

Lunch today was my the salad I put together from our CSA veggies – iceburg lettuce, spinach, radish slices, green onions, a little cheese and italian dressing. I also had a few left over lasagna rolls (lasagna noodles rolled with cheese & spinach, topped with marinara). I am feeling SUPER full at the moment but I knew I’d be starving by the end of the day if I didn’t eat lunch as usual!

The weather here today is perfect! It’s in the mid 70s, the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing just enough. I love it. It feels like spring!

2 for 2

3 May

I woke up early again this morning to get a work out in. The alarm went off at 6am. By 6:15 I was out the door and running. It was so quiet and peaceful. What a great feeling! Did a quick 25 minute running loop ending with a pretty hilly climb that I walked. I figure it’s good to get some hills in running or walking so I always try to end at the bottom of that hill and walk it as a cool down. Side note: my 8 miler Sunday was super hilly. I need to pull the Garmin elevation chart and post it here.

I’ve started to track my calories again – I go back and forth with this a lot. Ever now and then I like to check how I’m doing roughly so I track it for a few weeks. I have a suspicion I’m not getting enough calories in my diet, we will see. For the record I use My Fitness Pal – I love it because it has an android app too that makes it super easy to track on the go. It also has the most comprehensive database of food that I’ve found – it’s pretty rare that I have to add one.

Breakfast this morning was a vanilla Greek yogurt with some granola. I’m also sipping on an Orange wegmans brand gatorade drink.

Yoga starts next week, I can’t wait! and I found a nice 10$ mat at Wal-Mart that should do the trick. My muscles are going to be so happy again.

The weather is stormy, rainy and gray again today – wtf. Some sun would be nice! But at least I got my run done already in case it starts to storm this afternoon. 😉

Some random thoughts

19 Apr

I know I never did a weekend recap and now that it’s tuesday it seems a little late. Instead I thought I’d share a few random thoughts/things that have been going on.

  • Over the weekend I got the urge to re-organize my side of the walk in closet again. I remembered my friend mentioning that using “ultra thin” hangers really helped her gain some space. So armed with some Bed Bath and Beyond store credit I stopped by to check them out. As luck would have it, these ultra thin hangers were on clearance for $9.99 for a box of 50! I picked up a couple boxes and when I got home I immediately started switching hangers out. I also took the opportunity to get rid of some clothes in the process. 150 hangers later, all of my work clothes (shirt, pants, suits, skirts) and casual clothes (shirts, tanks, skirts, dresses) are hanging in my closet and I have SO much open space! I even had enough space to hang up all of my race t-shirts too, which were previously just stacked on a shelf. I am a true believer, I never thought changing to slim hangers could help so much!
  • I ate egg salad sandwiches for lunch every day last week, and I made more this weekend to eat this week. It’s not the healthiest I know but I’m just craving it so badly. I’m a firm believer that you crave things your body needs so I’m just listening and hoping my body gets its fill soon 🙂 One time I was craving soy sauce like crazy and I realized it’s because I wasn’t eating enough salt. Maybe I need calcium?
  • I have been compulsively checking the race website from Sundays 5k to see if the professional photos are up. I can’t wait to see the photos from me finishing.
  • cube view

It has been raining here for probably 75% of the month of april. I’m over it, and ready to see some sunshine from the window in my cube. Not this dreary gray crappiness.

  • I’m always so annoyed come Boston Marathon Monday that there’s no way to watch it online for free. We don’t get the only channel it was being broadcast on so I had to make due with live blogs. They’ll do I guess but theres nothing like seeing those elite runners cross the finish!

That’s all for now. I’ll be back with a real post soon.
