Yoga…gas

7 Dec

Happy hump day!

Yesterday kind of flew by so I didn’t get the chance to blog – whoops.

After work I went pretty much straight to heated yoga. I don’t know if the heat was up higher than normal or what, but it was SUPER heated and SUPER sweaty. wow.  I also experienced some serious yoga… gas. We were doing some poses that are supposed to clean out your pancreas and “get things moving” and I think it REALLY worked because by the time I got home I was feeling super gassy in my belly. It was an interesting night. haha. Does this happen to anyone else after yoga? This is the first time it’s happened to me!

As we were leaving the class the instructor/owner of the studio was handing out Luna protein bars and 50c off coupons! How awesome is that?!
I love Luna protein bars but I’ve never tried this flavor before. I added it to my snack drawer at work so next time the craving strikes, I’ll give it a shot.

The instructor also announced that all classes next week are free! Since it’s finals week and there’s a lot of students around he figured it was a good way to encourage people to come. I may be doubling up on classes next week to take advantage of that awesome offer.

After yoga, the hubby made some quick cheese and bean quesadillas on the griddle while I showered and we settled in to watch Lord of the Rings. I am SO NOT a fan of these movies (seriously, what percentage of the movies is just Frodo to walking through the woods??) but the hubby got on a LOTR kick this weekend and promised that if I watch it with him he would pause it and answer my questions and all that. I just don’t get fantasy movies like that – I find them boring, and everyones names and motives are so confusing that I just can never follow the story line. But we’re watching them in 45 minute increments and I kind of understand what’s going on, which makes it a little more interesting for me. Sort of. I’d rather be watching Rent or The Sweetest Thing though.

I’m still TBD about tonights workout , but looking at the rainy/snowy weather I think it is going to end up being an arms and abs night. We have to pick up my car from getting inspected too so I won’t be able to squeeze in a run outside before it gets dark.

Workouts planned this week:
Monday – 30 minute run
Tuesday – Heated yoga (60 minutes)
Wednesday – 30 minute run*
Thursday – EA Active arms and abs*
Friday – Zumba
Saturday – Rest
Sunday – Longer run
* I may switch Wednesday and thursday. We will see.

Enjoy your hump day!

The long weekend in review

31 May

This weekend I…

  • Did my first tempo run – it was hard!
  • Saw Bridesmaids with my mom – I think my expectations were too high because I didn’t find it as funny as I expected.
  • Saw two friends get ordained into the Lutheran Church – so cool!
  • Went on a tough hike with the hubby.
  • Learned to make a delicious and quick margarita using my Magic Bullet.
  • Finished preserving the wedding flowers so now my bouquet can be displayed around the house!
  • Decided last minute to run a Memorial Day race.
  • Ate at Olive Garden for my brothers birthday – O.M.G. their bread sticks get better every time we go.
  • Made egg salad for my lunches – I’m on a kick again.
  • Ran said Memorial Day 3.8 mile race – Race report coming soon,  I need to get my garmin elevation uploaded first, it was that kind of race.

Gnomeo & redemption

20 Apr

The husband and I went to see Gnomeo and Juliet last night at the dollar theater. It was cute, and had a ton of adult jokes which kept it entertaining. It was perfect for the dollar theater experience. We spent a total of $4 last night for 2 movie tickets, popcorn and a drink. Can we say awesome??

Breakfast today was a danon blueberry greek yogurt. The husband and I were really lazy last night and decided not to pack lunches and just to order it through a program both our offices offer (we work in the same organization just in different areas and buildings). I ordered a veggie flatbread and an order of onion rings. I wouldn’t normally order onion rings but I needed to spend a little more so that they’d deliver it for free and it was the only thing that really appealed to me. The flatbread was HUGE. It was filled with some provalone, chopped black and green olives (black olives are one of my fav foods!), onions, roasted red peppers, tomatos and lettuce. I ate about half of it and 4-6 onion rings before throwing the rest of the rings and putting the second half in the fridge to bring home.

When I got home I wanted to go for a run. The weather was nice and I Was feeling good. But about 5 minutes into the run I felt those onion rings. UGH. I cut my planned 30 minutes down to 15 and made the mental note that I’m seriously never going to eat something that fried again because it cost me my run. I got home and was a little bummed so I immediately turned on EA active and did Arms n Abs. I felt somewhat redeemed. Tomorrow I’ll give the run another try.

I still feel gross and bloated from the fried grossness so I just had some rice for dinner with a little teriyaki sauce. I’ll probably have a bowl of granola and some rice milk in a few minutes. What can ya do. Sometimes bad food decisions go okay, sometimes they don’t.
