Friday Fitness Recap (June 6)

6 Jun

As you read this I am off to Boston for the Runner’s World Heartbreak Hill Half & Festival!! I am psyched for this race after my great experience at the Runner’s World Half & Festival last fall.

With race weekend coming up, this week was full of tapering and taking it easy. I stopped with strength training after Tuesday (though I didn’t weight the leg tracks in BodyPump on Tuesday), and did a couple of shorter easier runs.

Saturday – 3 miles easy – I wanted to do closer to 8 but my legs felt exhausted.

Sunday – Rest

Monday – 3 miles hills

Tuesday – BodyAttack* in the AM, Sh’Bam* + BodyPump* in the PM

Wednesday – 2 miles race pace

Thursday – 2 miles easy

Friday – Rest

Total Miles: 10
Strength classes: 1
Cardio classes: 2

My dad and I are running the 5k on Saturday morning and the Half Marathon on Sunday morning. Other than that we will be exploring the Boston area, and checking out the seminars and expo for the race. I’m super excited about this weekend and can’t wait to share my experience when I get back. 🙂

Have a great weekend!

Friday Fitness Recap (May 30)

30 May

It’s hard to believe that this time next week I’ll be in Boston for the Runner’s World Heartbreak Hill Half & Festival!!! I’m so excited to be in that city and to run a race on one of the most famous stretches of road. 🙂

This week was my last real week of “training” if you can call it that. Next week will be taper time.

Saturday – RPM* + BodyPump* + 3 miles easy

Sunday – Rest

Monday – 10 miles easy with run/walk intervals

Tuesday – Sh’Bam* + BodyPump

Wednesday – BodyAttack* + 3 miles progression (trying a new approach to learn how to pace myself to negative splits…)

Thursday – BodyPump + BodyAttack

Friday – 5 miles easy

Total Miles: 21 (woo hoo!!)
Strength classes: 3 (goal of 3)
Cardio classes: 4 (goal of 2)

Tomorrow I’ll be getting in an easy 8 miler, and Sunday I’ll be taking a rest day since I can’t fit in my usual RPM + BodyPump combo.

Then it’s taper time yet again! whew.

Friday Fitness Recap (May 23)

23 May

I have been enjoying this in between time before I start training for the Wineglass Marathon. I have been trying to keep my mileage up while still giving myself time to recover from Pittsburgh. I’ve had a couple times where I couldn’t fit a run in like I planned to, but I’m not too worried about it. I’ve got the Runner’s World Heartbreak Hill 5k and Half in two weeks so I can’t completely slack. 🙂

Here’s the past two weeks –

Saturday May 10 – 3 easy

Sunday May 11 – BodyPump* + RPM*

Monday May 12 – 3 miles easy

Tuesday May 13 – 4 miles easy + BodyPump + Sh’Bam*

Wednesday May 14 – BodyAttack*

Thursday May 15 – Unplanned rest – I woke up with a stomach ache and ended up taking a sick day from work. Felt fine by the evening though, go figure.

Friday May 16 – Rest day

Total Miles: 10 (meh)
Strength classes: 2 (goal of 3)
Cardio classes: 2 (goal of 2)

—————————-

Saturday May 17 – 4.5 easy – this was supposed to be 7 but I got some horrible shin splints which made me realize it was time to swap out shoes.

Sunday May 18 – BodyPump

Monday May 19 – 3 miles hills

Tuesday May 20 – 1 mile easy – was supposed to be 3 but I didn’t feel great this morning. Instead I foam rolled. + RPM + BodyPump

Wednesday May 21 – Body Attack + 4 miles easy

Thursday May 22 – BodyPump + 2 miles speed work – these two miles were to make up for Tuesday.

Friday May 23 – Rest day

Total Miles: 14.5
Strength classes: 3 (goal of 3)
Cardio classes: 2 (goal of 2)

Tomorrow I plan to do 10 miles, and Sunday I am going to the gym for BodyPump and RPM, should be a good time. I’ve got a long weekend this weekend for Memorial Day and I can’t wait!!!

Enjoy your holiday or regular weekend 🙂

Friday Fitness Recap (May 9)

9 May

Hey guys!!! Whew did this week fly by. I had an absolutely great time at the Pittsburgh Half Marathon, which has become a bit of an awesome pattern with that race! I’m working on getting a recap together and hope to have that posted soon. Overall though, I had a great time though my pacing wasn’t the greatest (positive splits FTW…haha).

I am now in the few weeks between that race and starting to train for the Wineglass Full Marathon in October. gulp!! So I have made a loose plan to keep my mileage up over the next few weeks. I also have 2 more halfs scheduled over the summer – the Runner’s World Heartbreak Hill Half in early June, and the PA Grand Canyon Half in July. They are timed pretty perfectly with the full marathon training and I’m looking forward to a few more halfs this year as I ride the endorphins from Pittsburgh last week. 🙂

Anyhow, here is how last week, race recover week went:

Saturday – Rest Day

Sunday – Pittsburgh Half Marathon Race Day!!!

Monday – Rest Day

Tuesday – 2 miles easy in AM + Sh’Bam + BodyPump in PM

Wednesday – BodyAttack in the AM

Thursday – 3 miles hills on the treadmill in AM + BodyAttack and BodyPump in PM – Yea I did two Attack this classes this week. I couldn’t help it. ❤

Friday – Rest day

Total Miles: 18.1
Strength Work Classes: 2
Cardio Classes: 3

This weekend I am looking forward to hitting up the gym for a BodyPump, RPM combo on sunday morning. I haven’t been able to do that in about a month due to other commitments! Tomorrow I’ll be doing an easy run, aiming for 60-90 minutes.

Have a good one!!!

Friday Fitness Recap (Jan 24, a little delayed!)

27 Jan

So here I am on Monday, doing a Friday Fitness Recap. haha. Don’t judge, okay? 🙂

Last week I couldn’t squeeze in my 4th run – I had a lot going on with after work events and even with doing some early morning workouts to fit things in, I just couldn’t get it in.

I also had to miss Yoga because of a work meeting (it is over my lunch break). So, hopefully thid week I’ll be able to get everything in.

Saturday – BodyPump & RPM
Sunday – Run: 4 miles with some speed work
Monday – BodyPump
Tuesday: Run: 3 miles easy, CXWork (an abs and arms class), Sh’bam
Wednesday: RPM
Thursday: Run: 3 miles with some speed work, BodyPump
Friday: Rest

Total Miles: 10 (meh)

Runs: 3/4, BodyPump: 3/3, RPM: 2/2, Yoga: 0/1

And since it is Monday, here’s what I did over the weekend:

Saturday: Run: 5 miles easy
Sunday: BodyPump and RPM

I’m reminding myself to thoroughly enjoy my last week of training plan free runs. Next week I start training again. My first big race is the Pittsburgh Half Marathon at the beginning of May!
